St.
John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota takes its football
very seriously. Saturdays throughout the fall feature a surging
stream of red pouring into the picturesque little hollow containing
Clements Stadium. Clements is home to the winningest football program
all-time in NCAA Division III history with a 526-217-24 record in
95 seasons. Coach John Gagliardi has led the Johnnies to 432 wins
in the past 57 seasons making him the winningest coach in college
football history. In December 2003, the St. John Johnnies won the
Division III championship capping off an undefeated season.
In
the summer of 2002, St. John’s installed a new playing surface
on their field. They went with an artificial turf from Sprinturf.
Under the turf is a Multi-Flow drainage system. The Multi-Flow was
installed horizontally and in a herringbone pattern. Multi-Flow
is frequently installed horizontally under artificial turf. This
prevents the need for trenching and provides a generous surface
area for water collection. Multi-Flow’s strength was appreciated
when truckloads of fill rolled onto the field.
