When
the City of Auburn, California decided it had to do something about
subsurface drainage under their streets, they turned to Multi-Flow.
They liked the fact that that they could get by with a narrow trench.
This meant that less spoil need to be carried away and less backfill
aggregate needed to be carried in. There was also likely to be minimal
traffic disruption.
A rock wheel
trencher was used to cut through the asphalt pavement and gravel
base. The compacted base was surprisingly wet and in need of drainage.
Both
six and eighteen inch Multi-Flow were used in the project. The Multi-Flow
was attached to PVC pipes for transport to the storm water system.
This historic gold rush city might not have streets paved with gold,
but with a well drained base, its pavement should last a good long
time!
